Confined Space Training
This national accredited 1 day training has been designed to provide you with the essential knowledge to identify confined space, to assess risk associated with confined space environment and to control confined space entry.
Course topics
- How to enter a confined space.
- How to safely work in a confined space.
- How to write and issue work permits.
- How to work in accordance with a work permit.
- How to supervise work in a confined space.
- What documentation is necessary to perform confined space work?
- Who is permitted to work in a confined space?
- How to identify, report and control risk.
- Legislation pertaining to working in confined spaces.

Course outcome
With successful completion, course participants will receive a “Statements of Attainments” for
each Unit of Competency that was completed:
- MSAPMOHS200A Work Safely.
- MSAPMPER200B Work in accordance with and issued.
- MSAPMPER202A Observe work permit.
- MSAPMPER205B Enter confined space
- RIIRI201A Conduct local risk assessment
- MSAPMPER300B Issue work permits.
- MSAPMPER400A Coordinate permit process.

Breathing Apparatus and Atmosphere Testing (1 day)
The second day has a practical approach how to identify and use both atmosphere testers and monitors.
Course topics
- How to prevent injury.
- How to identify and use both atmosphere monitors & testers and SCBA gear.
- The course covers LEL (Lower Explosive Levels), oxygen requirements and explosive atmospheres.
- How to correctly test atmospheres.
- How to calibrate and monitor gas detectors.
- Inspection and readiness checks for SCBA.
- How to put on and self test SCBA equipment.
- How to shut down and clean SCBA equipment, timing and monitoring air levels during use, inspection and documentation for SCBA gear.

Training outcome
With successful completion participants will receive a "Statement of Attainment" at the end of the training for each Unit of Competency undertaken:

- PUAFIR207B Operate Breathing Apparatus.
- PUAFIR307B Monitor Hazardous Atmospheres.

Prerequisite:
Course participants of this course are required to hold the follwing Units of Compentency: MSAPMOHS200A, MSAPMPER200B, MSAPMPER202A, MSAPMPER205B, RIIRI201A, MSAPMPER300B, MSAPMPER400A (also see Confined Space Entry).
Facial restrictions apply for this course - BEARDS ARE NOT PERMITTED!
The rescue component for the confined space is also praticaly orientated with emphasis on rescue height dynamics, rescue and use of gear.
The rescue compent can be added to to first two course days or attendet as a standalone course (see pre-requisites)

- Inspection of equipment and identification and knowledge in the use of equipment.
- How to provide emergency care.
- How to liaise with emergency services.
- Legislation and working within a rescue situation.
- Written requirements for a rescue situation in a confined space.

With successful completion each course attendee will receive a “Statement of Attainment” in the at the end of the course day for the Units of competency:
- PUAEME001B Provide Emergency Care.
- PUASAR001B Participate in a Rescue Operation.
- PUASAR004B Undertake Vertical Rescue.
- PUASAR005B Undertake Confined Space Rescue.

Pre-requisite
Students are required to hold the following unit of competencies MSAPMOHS200A, MSAPMPER200B, MSAPMPER202A, MSAPMPER205B, RIIRI201A, MSAPMPER300B, MSAPMPER400A, PUAFIR201B, PUAFIR207B and PUAFIR307B (see training day one and two) as well as a white card/ blue card and first aid certificate.
