EWP _ Elevating Work Platform Courses
The licence course covers all types of elevating work platforms including: Boom lifts, knuckle booms, truck and trailer mounted ewps, vertical lift ewps and scissor lift type working platforms.
More Skills Australia offers two different kinds of Elevating Work Platform training courses to accommodate clients with different requirements. These courses are both flexible and time efficient.
Elevating Work Platform Workshop Course (11m plus)
The Elevating Platform Workshop course is of 2 day duration. Supervised by our experienced trainers the course participants are given the opportunity to undertake the formal training (1st day) as well as gaining some workplace experience during (2nd day) this course. The course entails the legally required formal training plus the completion of logbook and training plan in our supervised workshop training and the final assessment.
We would like to give all participants of this course the opportunity to obtain the “Yellow Card” at a special price of $130.00 (listed price $170.00).
Course Outline
- Day 1 Formal training/ theory assessment.
- Day 2 Workshop (completion of logbook and training plan) followed by final assessment.
Course Topics
- Basic knowledge of the Elevating Work Platform.
- How to assess and secure equipment and the work area (routine checks, plan work etc).
- How to operate the elevating work platform (driving, elevation, protective equipment etc.).
- Maintenance of the Elevating Work Platform (refuelling, modification etc.).

2 days.

Course Outcome
Successful applicants will be issued with an “Assessment Summary” and “Statement of Attainment” for ELEVATING WORK PLATFORM (WP) Licence - Unit of Competency OHSCER235A
Both documents have to be logged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with a licence application. A fee of $72.00 payable to Australia Post QLD will apply.

Basic Elevating Work Platform (11.0m plus) Training
This national accredited Elevating Work Platform course covers the legally required formal training for the Elevating Work Platform. It entails the basic knowledge and operating principles relating) to use the Elevating Work Platform. This includes topics such as how to assess, secure equipment and the work area, all operational aspects and maintenance of the Elevating Work Platform. The Elevating Work Platform licence covers all types of Elevating Work Platforms (above and below 11m) such as boom lifts, scissor lifts and knuckle booms This course is suitable for persons of all levels.
People with no or only little experience may need additional training time to improve their skills and therefore their confidence operating the machinery before they return to the workplace and obtain the required workplace experience.
The formal training is of 1 day duration. You will need to add an additional day for the practical assessment after completing the required workplace experience.
Course Outline
- Step 1 Course day 1: Formal Training.
- Step 2 Return to the workplace and complete Logbook and Training Plan.
- Step 3 Course day 2: Return to More Skills Australia to undertake the practical assessment.
