Basic Forklift Course (1 1/2 days, all levels)
Forklift Workshop inc licence - (2 1/2 days, experienced only)
Comprehensive Beginner Forklift Workshop inc licence (4 days, beginners)
We find that most Forklift licence applicants have different levels of experience. We understand that different levels of experience and different circumstances require a different training approach. To accommodate these different training requirements we have set up 3 different types of courses.
All 3 courses are conducted in accordance with the requirements outlined by Workplace Health and Safety:
Step 1 Formal training to be undertaken with RTO
Step 2 Obtain workplace experience; a logbook and training plan need to be completed and
signed of by a licensed supervisor
Step 3 Practical assessment (and theory assessment if not already completed)
Beginners
Comprehensive Beginner's Forklift Training
Persons with only little and no forklift experience will receive comprehesive training in this "All in One" course.
This will make a successful completion of the course nearly certain!!!
Course outline
Day 1 Formal training including theory assessment (see bottom of page for course topics).
Day 2 Familiarisation with the equipment - learn how to drive.
Day 3 Workshop - completion of logbook and training plan.
Day 4 Evaluation & practical assessment.
Total course duration
4 days.
Course times
8.30am - 4pm.

Course outcome
With successful completion the applicant will receive a "Statement of Attainment" and "Assessment Summary" for the Unit of Competency OHSCER207A.
Both documents have to be lodged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with a licence application. A fee of $72.00 each payable to Australia Post QLD will apply.
All Levels
Basic Forklift Course
This course is suitable for persons with experience of all levels who are able to complete the legally required logbook and training plan under supervision of a licensed supervisor at the workplace.
Course outline
Day 1 Formal training including theory assessment.
Step 2 Return to the workplace and complete logbook and training plan.
Day 2 Return to More Skills Australia to undertake the practical assessment.

1 1/2 days.

Experienced
Forklift Workhsop
Our Forklift Workshop is suitable for expereinced persons expereincong difficulties completing the required logbook and training plan.
Please be aware that applicants are required to provide proof of previsouly gained qualification such as an overseas forklift licence or/ and a a detailed letter from an employer.
Course outline
Day 1 Formal training including theory assessment.
Day 2 Completion of logbook and training plan in a simulated work environment.
Day 3 Practical assessment.
Total course duration
2 1/2 days.

FORMAL TRAINING COURSE TOPICS:
ELEMENT1.0 : Assess and secure equipment and work area
1.1 Conduct routine checks
1.1.1 External check of vehicle/equipment is conducted is accordance with manufacturer’s or specifications equivalent.
1.1.2 Attachments are inspected to ensure security
1.2 Plan Work
1.2.1 Work area is inspected to identify hazards and appropriate prevention and control measures are
implemented to avoid hazards.
1.2.2 Site/non-site personnel are safeguarded (protected) by a variety of measures including the erection of
barricades and posting of signs consistent with principles of the hierarchy of prevention/control.
1.2.3 Work area is inspected to determine appropriate path of movement for loads and equipment/vehicles.
1.2.4 Permits required to carry out job are obtained from authorized personnel
1.2.5 Job requirements are confirmed with relevant site personnel.
1.3 Check Controls and Equipment
1.3.1 Pre-operational and post start up equipment checks are carried out in accordance with manufacturer’s
specifications and/or operating manual.
1.3.2 Defects and damage are reported according to site procedures.
ELEMENT 2.0: Shift Load
2.1.1 1.2.6 Material is shifted using appropriate equipment
2.1.2 Weight of load is assessed and calculated to ensure compliance with equipment load plate specifications.
2.1.3 Controls and levers are applied to ensure safe and effective operation of equipment.
2.1.4 Speeds of vehicles/equipment are maintained to safe operating limits.
2.1.5 Communications are correctly given and interpreted with co-workers and other relevant persons to ensure
the application of the principles of the hierarchy of control in the co-ordination of work activity
2.1.6 Loads are placed to ensure stability of material and the avoidance of hazards on site.
2.1.7 Emergency procedures are carried out minimizing risk to personnel.
ELEMENT 3.0: Secure Site
3.1 Shut Down Equipment
3.1.1 Machinery is parked avoiding equipment hazards
3.1.2 Shut down is conducted in accordance with manufacturer’s specification to isolate vehicles
3.1.3 Post operational check is completed in accordance with operational procedures.
3.2 Secure Site
3.2.1 Machinery is parked avoiding site hazards.
