Our Scaffolding courses are suitable for people wishing to become a scaffolder, as well as scaffolders wishing to upgrade their knowledge, skills and employment opportunities.

Our training facilities in Wacol (Brisbane) are stocked with a variety of different types of scaffold such
as Wedgelock, Cuplock and Layher scaffold as well as large quantities of tube and couplers for building traditional tube and coupler scaffolds. All our courses have a "hands on" focus and our students will be directly involved in planning and building scaffolds in our workshops.



ALL OUR SCAFFOLDING course participants now have the following options:

This "All in One" course includes formal training, COMPLETION of logbook and in accordance with the training plan as well as the assessment requirements. 

Our workshops have been purposely designed to enable course attendees to obtain the necessary workplace experience.

It also provides the opportunity to cover any elements that are not part of the applicant's day to day duties at the workplace.

Participants without experience will get a better understanding on the recently gained knowledge by performing practical tasks.

NO FURTHER TRAINING IS REQUIRED TO OBTAIN THE LICENCE AFTER SUCCESSFUL COMPLETION OF THIS COURSE. 

This "Short" course is suitable for applicants that are in the industry at the time of the course.

PARTICIPANTS ATTENDING THIS SHORT COURSE WILL BE REQUIRED TO COMPLETE THE LEGALLY REQUIRED LOGBOOK AND TRAINING PLAN AFTER ATTENDING THE FORMAL TRAINING  and before they are able to undertake the final assessment.

Logbook requirements: 

  • Logbook and training plan need to be signed off by a licensed supervisor.
  • The practical assessment has to be undertaken within 6 months after attending first day.  


Duration: 5 days

Basic Scaffolding

Erect basic scaffolding (SB).

The Basic Scaffolding course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of all types of modular/system scaffolding such as Wedgelok, Cuplok, Layher. It also covers industrial safety nets and materials hoists.

Course topics:

  • General safety.
  • Types of scaffolds.
  • Working platform.
  • Foundation (calculating length of soleboards)
  • Structural stability.
  • Access to scaffolds i. e. ladders.
  • Modular scaffolds.
  • Frame scaffolds.
  • Mobile scaffolds.
  • Trestle and bracket scaffolds.
  • Birdcage scaffolds.
  • Ancillary equipment.
  • Bends & hitches.
  • Industrial safety net.
  • Inspect and maintenance of scaffolding equipment.
  • Dismantle scaffolding equipment.

 

Course option "A" also includes working at heights:

  • Identification of requirements for working at heights.    
  • Types of harnesses and other equipment.
  • Types of assembly.
  • Types of falls.
  • Type of anchor fall arrest equipment
  • Ladders.
  • How to inspect gear.

 

Course outcome:

Successful applicant will be issued with an assessment summary and statement of attainment.

Both documents have to be lodged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with a licence application. A fee of $72.00 payable to Australia Post QLD will apply.


Applicants will also be issued with a statement of attainment for:

 MNMG237A Working Safely at Heights.







Intermediate Scaffolder

Erect Intermediate scaffolding (SI)
Training location: Wacol (Brisbane)

Our Intermediate Scaffolding course covers the theoretical and practical aspects of tube and coupler scaffolding including independent scaffolds, pole scaffolds, birdcage scaffolds, spur scaffolds and barrow runs. Our incorporated workshops provide valuable practical experience in a way that makes understanding and learning easy.



Course topics:

  • Australian standards deemed for the tube and coupler scaffolds
  • Spur scaffolds.
  • Independent scaffolding awnings.
  • AS/NZS requirements - cantilever scaffolds.
  • Cantilevered platform hoists and mask climbers.
  • Cantilevered crane loading platforms.
  • Deemed to comply standard for national assessments.

 

Course outcome:

Each successful applicant will be issued with an assessment summary and statement of attainment.

Both documents have to be lodged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with a licence application.

Advanced Scaffolder

Advanced scaffolding (SA).

As for all other scaffolding courses offered by More Skills Australia, the Advanced Scaffolding course also focuses on the practical components through our course integrated workshops.

 

Course outline:

  • Hung/ suspended scaffold.
  • Suspended scaffold requirements.
  • Cantilevered hoist.
  • Rope tension, minimum breaking loads stability.
  • Cantilevered hoist.



Course outcome:

Each successful applicant will be issued with an assessment summary and statement of attainment.

Both documents have to be lodged in person with Australia Post in Queensland together with a licence application.
A processing fee of $72.00 is charged by Australia Post QLD

Training requirements and what to bring to the courses:

  • Work Safety Shoes.
  • Photo ID i.e. Queensland or interstate Driver's Licence or Passport.
  • The Legislation requires the applicant to have a basic understanding and knowldege (reading. written and speaking) of the English language.
  • Assessments can only be conducted with applicants of 18 years of age or over.

More Skills Australia will provide safety helmets, high visibility vest, whistles as well as the general training equipment, notes, logbook and training plans, calculators and pens for the use of the course duration free of charge.

Workshops

Our specifically developed scope workshops that are incorporated into the course will provide un-experienced persons with useful and practical hints and tips. Experienced participants may find that the combination of formal training and the workshops can speed up and therefore fast track the process of gaining the desired licence.

Assessment

Assessments are scheduled for the Friday of the training week. The applicant will be evaluated by the trainer prior the assessment to ensure that trainee is competent to undertake the assessment.

If an applicant requires additional documented experienced before undertaking the assessment the assessment can be re-schedule to a later date at the applicants convenience at no extra cost.
